Biography Capella Itineris

The Capella Itineris
is an ensemble of six musicians and friends that are always in search of the authentic, first of all performing on ancient instruments. Their purpose is to highlight the beauty of the music of the XVII century, sometimes little known and which deserves to be played. In addition, they join the historical and ecological dimension of that music following walking paths, whenever possible, to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a journey such as the musicians of the seventeenth century were able to experience.

Their first musical journey saw them cross the region of Jura in Switzerland on foot, starting from Basel and passing through Delémont. In Biel they took a solar boat to cross the Three Lakes and then they gave a second concert in Bulle. The project ended with a third concert in Lausanne. After the success of this first project, they decided to renew the experiment.

Several ideas are waiting to be realized: a trip to the North of Germany and the North of Italy to play with historical organs, a sailing boat crossing of Lake Geneva and a concert on top of a mountain. In the meantime, we are organizing our next major project which will take us on a journey of discovery of the Conches’ valley (Switzerland) and its magnificent historical organs. They are also working on the production of their first CD Stadtpfeiffer, Piffari, musique à cinq souffleurs that we recorded in July 2020.

During their journey, outside of the planned concerts, they also play in the street. This practice serves them as both a rehearsal and a public performance that always delights the ears of passers-by. It is also an opportunity to reach a new audience who has never been in contact before with the music they perform. Their concerts are aimed at sophisticated music lovers as well as those who simply seek beauty and inspiration. Last updated : August 26, 2020
