Venezianische Weihnachten: Den Vespro di Natale, ein spezielles Weihnachtsprogramm mit Musik aus dem Frühbarock, haben das La Cetra Barockorchester & Vokalensemble in den letzten Jahren an zahlreichen Orten mit Erfolg aufgeführt. In Treviso wird das von Andrea Marcon konzipierte Programm im Herbst 2020 nunmehr endlich aufgenommen. Hohen kirchlichen Feiertagen jener Zeit entsprechend ist unser Konzert kräftemässig prächtig ausgestattet: Dem 24-köpfigen Chor gesellen sich neben Streichern vier Posaunen, zwei Zinken, zwei Theorben, ein Orgelpositiv sowie eine grosse Orgel hinzu. Im Zentrum dieser Weihnachtsvesper Vespro di Natale stehen unter anderem ein Ausschnitt aus der Marienvesper von Claudio Monteverdi, das achtstimmige Magnificat und Psalmen aus seiner Sammlung Selva Morale e spirituale sowie Motetten von Alessandro Grandi und Giovanni Valentini. Orgelwerke von Giovanni Gabrieli und Francesco Usper bilden dazu die Umrahmung. Miteinander verbunden sind diese Komponisten durch eine jeweils jahrelange Tätigkeit als Kirchenmusiker an der Basilica di San Marco. Die Schönheit und Komplexität der hier aufgeführten Werke mag einen Eindruck von der Herrlichkeit vermitteln, mit welcher die Gottesdienste im damaligen Venedig unter grossem Aufwand begangen wurden.
