Info for Progression

Featuring Ingrid Jensen and Symposium Brass, composer/trumpet player Cameron Pearce says this about his excellent Rattle debut:

“I started this project by considering how I might compose for a brass ensemble and soloist by drawing inspiration from three artists who have greatly influenced my musical life: American composer Aaron Copland, Canadian composer and trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, and American composer and trumpeter Ron Miles. As time passed, other influences found their way into the mix, such as Gabriel Fauré, Steve Reich, and The Westerlies, artists whose work has been hugely inspiring. The title for this project speaks to my interest in the various aspects of harmony and reharmonisation, where, through various structures and techniques, the same subject or melody can be approached from a range of contrasting angles. Consequently, it’s hard to categorise this music, but that suits me just fine.” - Cameron Pearce
