Info for Nicola Porpora: Music for the Venetian Ospedaletto

Das 1528 gegründete Ospedaletto war das jüngste und kleinste der vier berühmten venezianischen Waisenhäuser, die sich durch exzellente musikalische Darbietungen hervortaten. Nicola Porpora wirkte dort von 1743 bis 1747, wo er der hochbegabten Sängerin Angiola Moro, genannt »Anzoletta« begegnete, für die er besonders anspruchsvolle Solopartien schuf. Die Mezzo-Sopranistin Josè Maria Lo Monaco hat sich dieser Partien von Anzoletta angenommen und stellt hier, begleitet von Stile Galante unter der Leitung von Stefano Aresi, zwei virtuose Kantaten sowie ein Salve Regina vor.

Jose Maria Lo Monaco
Die Altistin Jose Maria Lo Monaco studierte Klavier und Gesang und nahm bisher an mehreren nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerben erfolgreich teil. Sie gewann erste Preise u. a. beim „Premio Caruso Contest 2002“, dem „G. B. Viotti International Contest 2003“ und dem „Lucia Valentini Terrani“ und „Iris Adami Corradetti International Contest 2004“. Ihr Operndebut gab sie 2001 in Orpheus und Eurydike von Chr. W. Gluck. Nicht zuletzt wegen ihrer umfangreichen Konzerttätigkeit in den Bereichen Oper, Lied und vor allem der Barockmusik führten sie Einladungen bereits auf viele bekannte Bühnen und Festivals, wie Mailänder Scala, Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genua, Sala Verdi in Mailand und Bremen Festival. Dabei arbeitete sie u. a. mit den Dirigenten Alberto Zedda, Christopher Hogwood und Diego Fasolis sowie der Accademia Bizantina und dem Ensemble La Venexiana zusammen.
