Info for Standards, Vol. 1
Not to forget the equal billing of drummer Jack DeJohnette and bassist Gary Peacock, without doubt Jarrett's most critically acclaimed line-up. They just know how to play together and feed off their respective dynamics. Most of Jarrett's best non-solo work has been with these two peerless musicians. Their interpretations are stunning, especially Bobby Troup and Leah Worth's 'Meaning Of The Blues' and an astonishingly good version of Billie Holiday's 'God Bless The Child', which after 15 minutes never once drags. Jarrett also sounds positively buoyant on the tracks he scats.
