Jazz guitarist Barry Greene is known for his swinging time feel, rich tone, and deeply melodic approach to improvisation. His playing reflects a lifelong immersion in the jazz tradition, combining technical command with warmth, lyricism, and musical clarity. Greene has released numerous critically praised recordings, including Resurgence, Sojourner, At Home, The Other Side, Urban Jazz, Urban Jazz II, and In the Meantime, documenting a broad range of modern jazz settings.

Throughout his career, Greene has recorded and performed with an impressive roster of artists, including Pat Bianchi, David Kikoski, Steve Nelson, Paul Bollenback, Gene Bertoncini, Danny Gottlieb, Adam Nussbaum, Mark Whitfield, Rodney Jones, Dave Stryker, Reuben Rogers, Joel Frahm, Seamus Blake, and Ulysses Owens Jr., among many others. These collaborations highlight his versatility and deep connection to the language of jazz.

Equally influential is Greene's work as an educator and author. He is the creator of Barry Greene Video Lessons (BGVL), a globally respected online learning platform used by thousands of jazz guitarists worldwide. His instructional materials—published by Mel Bay and in multiple digital formats—are widely regarded for their clarity, depth, and musical relevance.

After a long and distinguished tenure at the University of North Florida, where he has served as Professor of Jazz Guitar since 1995, Greene is now entering a new chapter—devoting more time to recording, performing, and expanding BGVL. His ongoing work continues to inspire players at every level, reaffirming his place as one of today's most respected voices in jazz guitar.
