Die mehrfach preisgekrönte Gitarristin und Sängerin Orianthi meldet sich mit ihrem neuen Studioalbum Some Kind of Feeling zurück – ein packendes, leidenschaftliches Rock-Statement, das gleichermaßen virtuos und emotional ist. Fans handgemachter Rockmusik, energiegeladener Gitarrenriffs und kraftvoller Frauenstimmen kommen hier voll auf ihre Kosten.

Der erste Vorbote, die neue Single „Attention“, ist ein echtes Highlight: Ein klassischer Power-Rocker, der von Orianthi selbst gemeinsam mit Don Miggs und Gregory Hanson geschrieben wurde – produziert vom legendären Kevin „The Caveman“ Shirley (Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Aerosmith, Journey, Led Zeppelin).

Schon das Intro mit seinem kantigen Gitarrenriff macht klar: Hier ist eine Künstlerin am Werk, die weiß, was sie will. Orianthis Stimme ist zugleich sinnlich und durchdringend, sie singt von persönlicher Freiheit nach einer toxischen Beziehung – kraftvoll und mit einer Prise Sarkasmus. Zeilen wie „I’m sipping on tequila / With someone you knew“ treffen den Nerv zwischen Selbstbewusstsein und Befreiungsschlag.

Und dann kommt das, worauf alle warten: Orianthis Gitarrensolo. 30 Sekunden pure Rock-Explosion – virtuos, wild, technisch brillant. Ihre Gitarre spricht Bände – ein Befreiungsschrei, wie er emotionaler kaum sein könnte.

Der Song ist auch als Performance-Video ein Muss, das ihre enorme Bühnenpräsenz und Gitarrenkunst eindrucksvoll einfängt. Die Zeile „I’m done thinking about you“, mehrfach wiederholt, unterstreicht den Befreiungsmoment – unterstützt von wuchtigen Drums und treibendem Bass.

Some Kind of Feeling besteht aus zehn Tracks – drei davon (darunter „First Time Blues“, „Ghost“ und „Bad For Each Other“) wurden von Orianthi selbst produziert, die übrigen sieben – darunter auch die Single „Attention“ – von Kevin „The Caveman“ Shirley (Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor).

Orianthi
released her major label debut Believe in the fall of 2009. The album produced the platinum single “According To You” which was a worldwide hit. Coming off the success of Believe and headlining shows around the world, Orianthi was asked to join Alice Cooper’s band in 2011. “I love working with Alice. I admire his longevity as an artist and he gives 110% every night,” Orianthi said. “I’ve learned something valuable from all the artists I have had the privilege to work with,” she says. That list is extensive and runs the gamut from Steve Vai, Michael Jackson, Carlos Santana, Michael Bolton, Prince, ZZ Top, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, John Mayer, Dave Stewart and more.

All these experiences have now given her the freedom, credibility, and confidence as an artist to make the kinds of records she wants to make. Her eclectic style and versatility belie an exciting and varied career that continues to grow and expand and defies the tendencies of an industry quick to pigeon hole an artist into one linear direction. She found a kindred spirit in producer Dave Stewart (Eurythmics, SuperHeavy). Together they recorded her latest album Heaven In This Hell to be released March 12, 2013. The album is melodic, riff heavy rock, energetic blues, and a sprinkle of country and pop. “We were able to record with musicians I respect, creatively exchanging ideas and playing together live in the studio…the way I want all my records to be made. Dave is my producer but also a friend and collaborator. We had a lot of fun jamming and hashing out a variety of songs and sounds until we found the grooves that inspired us, “ said Orianthi, “I’m really excited to share this record with the world.”
