Der Komponist Frédéric Chopin hat ein unerschöpfliches Werk hinterlassen, das herausragende Pianisten immer wieder begeistert. Einer von ihnen ist Rafal Blechacz. Nicht wenige halten den 1985 geborenen Polen für den herausragenden Chopin-Interpreten unserer Tage. Die Polonaise-Fantasie As-Dur op. 61, eine Herausforderung für jeden Pianisten.

Rafal Blechacz gehört zu der Sorte Ausnahmepianisten, die leicht zu übersehen sind. Der gläubige Katholik entzieht sich den Gesetzen der Vermarktung, wo er nur kann. Seine Konzertauftritte sind rar. Die gewonnene Zeit verbringt er damit, die Noten zu durchdringen, die er zum Klingen bringen will. Blechacz begreift Musik als ständigen Fluss – jedes Stück hat seine Vor- und Nachgeschichte, musikalisch wie im Leben des Komponisten. Chopins Werk bietet sich besonders an für eine solche Herangehensweise. So ist es kein Wunder, dass Blechacz’ Teilnahme am Internationalen Chopin-Wettbewerb 2005 die Musikwelt zum Staunen brachte. Der junge Pianist überragte die Konkurrenz wie nie zuvor – ein zweiter Preis wurde erst gar nicht vergeben, um den künstlerischen Abstand deutlich zu machen.

Rafal Blechacz, Klavier

Rafal Blechacz
was born in Nakło nad Notecią, Poland, on 30 June 1985. At the age of five he began to learn the piano at a local music centre and three years later enrolled at Bydgoszcz’s Artur Rubinstein Music School. Between 1996 and 1999 he won the top awards at a number of Polish national piano competitions. In 2005 he was awarded first prize at the 15th Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, and three special prizes: the Polish Radio Award for “Best Performance of the Mazurkas”, the Polish Chopin Society Award for “Best Polonaise Performance”, and the Warsaw Philharmonic Award for “Best Concerto Performance”. Addition­ally, he won the prize founded by Krystian Zimerman for “Best Sonata Per­formance”. Rafal recorded his first CD for Deutsche Grammophon in 2007 and since then has continued to rise in popularity, dazzling live audiences throughout the world.
