Acht Jahre nach „Honkin' on Bobo“ und drei Jahre nach der Beinahe-Trennung von Frontröhre Steven Tyler markierte „Music From Another Dimension!“ im Jahr 2012 einen lautstarken Neustart für die Hard-Rock-Titanen Aerosmith.

Mit Music From Another Dimension! veröffentlichen Steven Tyler (Gesang), Joe Perry (Gitarre), Brad Whitford (Gitarre), Tom Hamilton (Bass) und Joey Kramer (Schlagzeug) ihr 15. Studioalbum. Es ist die erste Veröffentlichung mit neuen Aerosmiths-Songs seit elf Jahren. Mit Honkin' on Bobo hatte die Band 2004 ein Album mit Coverversionen veröffentlicht. Die Aufnahmen der 15 neuen Stücke fanden in Los Angeles und im bandeigenen Studio in Massachusetts statt. Produziert wurde Music From Another Dimension von Jack Douglas, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry mit Ausnahme von drei Songs, die unter der Regie von Tyler und Marti Frederiksen entstanden.

Auf Music From Another Dimension! präsentiert sich die legendäre Rockband, die als eine der wenigen Formationen ihrer Generation nach wie vor in Originalbesetzung existiert, in bestechender Form. Neben der Single What Could Have Been Love zählen u.a. das Carrie Underwood-Duett Can t Stop Loving You und der Song Freedom Fighter , bei dem Johnny Depp als Backgroundsänger zu hören ist, zu den Highlights des Albums.

Am 12. August beschlossen Aerosmith mit einem Konzert in Bristow, Virginia, ihre jüngste US-Tour. Im Rahmen der ausverkauften Konzertreise, auf der die Rock-Ikonen von ihren Fans frenetisch gefeiert wurden, gastierten Steven Tyler, Joe Perry und Co. auch ein weiteres Mal in der legendären Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, wo Johnny Depp die Band als Gastmusiker begleitete.

"Wir haben nicht zehn Jahre gebraucht, um das Album aufzunehmen", sagt Steven Tyler, "wir haben uns nur so lange darauf vorbereitet, dafür bereit zu sein."

"Das ist Album, das wir schon immer machen wollten, seit die Band sich 1984 wieder zusammentat", erklärt Joe Perry. "Natürlich kann man sich nicht über die Nummer-Eins-Singles und die ausverkauften Welttourneen in der Folge der erfolgreichen Alben beschweren, aber das ist die Platte, die dabei herauskommt, wenn wir fünf zusammen in einem Raum sind und uns gegenseitig anschreien, die Lautstärke hochzudrehen und dieser Raum könnte auch Commonwealth Avenue 1325 sein." Fans wissen: dies ist die Adresse des Apartments, in der die Musiker zur Zeit der Bandgründung lebten und ihren ersten Song schrieben.

Music From Another Dimension! wird sowohl in einer Standardversion, als auch in einer Deluxe Edition erscheinen. Letztere enthält zusätzlich vier Live-Videos ("Rats In The Cellar", "Train Kept A Rollin", "Oh Yeah" und "Same Old Song and Dance"), exklusive Interviews mit den Bandmitgliedern, sowie drei neue Bonustracks: "Up On A Mountain", "Oasis" und "Sunny Side of Love".

Aerosmith sind Musikgeschichte. Ihre Alben verkauften sich weltweit über 150 Millionen Mal. Die Band wurde in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen und mit vier Grammys, acht American Music Awards, sechs Billboard Awards und zwölf Video Music Awards ausgezeichnet.

"Es ist 5 vor 12, als ich den Stream zum neuen Aerosmith-Album „Music from another dimension“ erhalte. Aber besser zu spät als nie, oder? Und was soll ich sagen, allein der Opener „Luv XXX“ erinnert mich direkt an einen ihrer größten Hits „Love in an elevator“ und beweist mir, dass die Jungs auch nach 11 Jahren nichts verlernt haben. Aerosmith sind mittlerweile auch eine der wenigen Bands, welche immer noch in Original-Besetzung spielen, was in der heutigen Zeit schon als Wunder bezeichnet werden kann. Mit „Oh yeah“ und „Beautiful“ sind sehr coole Rock-Nummern am Start, bevor mit „Tell me“ kurz mal in Richtung „Cryin‘“ geschaut wird, um danach weiter zu rocken. Als besondere Schmankerl seien hier die Songs „Freedom fighter“, mit Johnny Depp als Background-Sänger, und das Carrie Underwood-Duett „Can’t stop loving you” zu nennen. Das komplette Album umfasst insgesamt 12 Nummern (die Deluxe Version enthält zusätzlich drei Bonussongs), wovon nicht eine Nummer dabei ist, die nicht gut ist. Für mich beweisen Aerosmith wieder einmal, dass alte Haudegen wie sie einfach nichts verlernt haben und dass wir uns alle glücklich schätzen können, dass diese Jungs immer noch Musik machen. The early ‘80s were rockier times, with Perry and Whitford temporarily leaving the Aero fold to pursue solo projects. Albums like Permanent Vacation, Pump, Get a Grip and Nine Lives, Just Push Play, and their latest release, the blues-inspired 'Honkin' on Bobo', have all been huge successes. And the killer videos – a driving force of the video medium, these Boston rockers led the look, style and attitude of the ‘80s MTV generation. Videos for Dude Looks Like a Lady, Livin’ On the Edge and Crazy (starring Liv) are solid MTV classics. And later, with videos like Pink and Jaded, Aerosmith continued to cut the edge.

Bobo is really a combined tribute: to the originators of the blues' core repertoire and the explosive, electric inventions of 1960s British bands such as the Yardbirds, Mayall's Bluesbreakers and the Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac."
