Info zu When I Write The Song
Jake Worthington, the La Porte, Texas native, is turning back the clock, creating country music that embraces and cherishes the traditional stylings of the genre.
"When I Write The Song" doubles down on the authentic country sounds of Worthington’s debut self-titled album and features the new track “My Home’s In Oklahoma,” alongside viral “It Ain’t The Whiskey,” (nominated for the Texas Country Music Association’s Country Single of the Year,) Miranda Lambert collab “Hello Shitty Day,” “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart)” and the most recent release “Not Like I Used To.” Writers contributing to the album include Dean Dillon, Jessie Jo Dillon, Roger Springer, Clint Daniels, Jeff Hyde and more.
“This record means to me…it’s a reminder to fight the good fight,” shares the 2025 Texas Country Music Association Entertainer of the Yearnominee. “I’m a strong believer in ‘do what moves ya.’ Make the kind of music that wrecks your world or picks up all the pieces.”
“If it makes you feel that kind of way, and if that’s what you need, then don’t let anybody or anything change that. That’s what this record is to me,” Worthington continues.
Worthington’s forthcoming album doubles down on the authentic country sounds of his debut self-titled album that Texas Monthly defined as “gorgeous beer-joint purism.” With all-star features from Miranda Lambert, Marty Stuart and Mae Estes, When I Write The Song was produced by esteemed hitmakers Joey Moi, Jon Randall and Chuck Ainlay. The ethos of the album, sonically reminiscent of greats like Jones, Waylon and Strait, can be summed up as, “music undaunted by time” (The Tennesseean).

Jake Worthington
For Big Loud Texas traditionalist Jake Worthington, country music is in his DNA. The La Porte, Texas native was raised on his grandfather's porch performances of Ray Price, Merle Haggard, and George Jones, and soon picked up his own Gibson acoustic to realize the breadth of his soon-to-be-classic, wide, and wild voice. Now, Worthington breathes fresh life into dance halls, beer joints, and ballrooms from Texas to Tennessee with his 13-song, self-penned debut, Jake Worthington, recent Miranda Lambert collaboration “Hello Shitty Day,” “I'm The One (feat. Marty Stuart)” and latest “It Ain't The Whiskey.” Captivating the masses with his honky-tonk stylings, the singer-songwriter has brought two-step anthems to venues across the country, opening for Lambert, Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, Riley Green, Pat Green, Hank Williams Jr., ERNEST, Ian Munsick, and more. Worthington is also a sought-after duet partner across the Nashville landscape, including guest spots on Brooks and Dunn's Reboot II on “I'll Never Forgive My Heart,” HIXTAPE: Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE with Reba McEntire on “Is It Cold In Here," ERNEST's 2023 extension FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses on “Heartache In My 100 Proof,” and more. “I believe in country music as much as I believe in my next breath,” Worthington declares, and “blame it on my raising, but I think there ought to be room for country in country music.”
