are THE band to watch with a platinum -selling record and a prestigious Meteor Award (Irish Grammy) for album of the year beating out the likes of U2, The Script, and Snow Patrol. As one of the hottest live bands, they’ve headlined major UK festivals performing in front of tens of thousands of loyal fans. The Coronas have caught the attention of Sir Paul McCartney who personally asked them to open his Dublin show earlier this year and have opened for Pink and others in Europe. They’ve also toured Southeast Asia and Australia.
The Coronas latest Irish CD Tony Was An Ex-Con reached #1 on the Indie charts and #3 on the National Album chart. Hit singles include “San Diego Song,” “Someone Else’s Hands,” and “Won’t Leave You Alone.” The band, maintains a high profile on YouTube with over 1million collective views and is quickly earning an international following. This summer they headlined Ireland’s Oxygen Festival, playing in front of 30,000 fans.
Lead singer Danny O’Reilly credits the band’s close friendship as a key element of what makes their live show so dynamic. “Graham, Conor and I are literally lifelong friends and when Dave joined a few years back he fit right in. When you have that close of a bond with your band mates you can anticipate their every move on stage and it shows a camaraderie that fans can relate to and everyone has a great time.”
The Coronas are named after the Corona typewriter used by the young music critic character William Miller in the movie “Almost Famous”. Band members are Danny O’Reilly (lead vocals/ guitar/keyboards), Graham Knox (bass), Connor Egan (drums), Dave McPhillips (lead guitar/vocals).
