Gábor Szalay Trio

Biographie Gábor Szalay Trio

Gábor Szalay Trio
This brilliant trio plays quite a few adaptations of the great jazz composers but whatever they play it’s exciting and vibrant modern jazz.

Gábor Szalay is the outstanding Hungarian exponent of bebop guitar with his highly harmonic and incredibly swinging approach. With his extremely modest personality he lets the music speak for itself instead of showboating. He plays in the time-honoured, highly approachable tradition of Barney Kessel, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Barney Kessel, Jim Hall and Grant Green.

István Gyárfás's greatest influence is Wes Montgomery and other giants of mainstream jazz. He has performed at a number of jazz festivals featuring musicians such as Carol Cass, Sidney Ellis, Agostino DiGiorgio, Tommy Vig, Herbie Mann. He has given concerts in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Romania.

Bass player, bass guitarist and composer Viktor Hárs is a grandmaster of his instruments on which he is one of the most in-demand musicians in his country. He has played probably with all the best-known Hungarian musicians. As for the world stars of jazz, he has accompanied, among others Ernie Wilkins, Tony Scott, Carl Fontana,  Al Jarreau, David Liebman, Peter Erskine, Al Di Meola, Trilok Gurtu, Johnny Griffin, Bob Mintzer.
