Info zu We the People (Remastered)

One of the best Funk albums of all time, dating from 1972 includes the Funk winners ‘We The People’, ‘1993’, ‘Soul To The People’ , the driving ‘It’s All In Your Mind’ and their great instrumental version of Lyn Collins’ Think’, plus the slightly jazz groove of ‘Blowout’. (Chuck Brown) & The Soul Searchers were up there with JB’s, Mandrill, Fatback Band, Mandrill and War as one of the leading Funk bands with their Brassy sound, and this is Essential to anyone into that sound. It has also been sampled numerous times.

"Thie Washington, D.C.-based group had two singles from this album featured on the Billboard R&B charts: "We the People" and "Think." The former is an aggressively-paced number with a social message for the times; it features an instrumental vamp. It peaked at 40 after only six weeks on the charts. The second single was "Think." Penned by James Brown, it features his distinctive horn arrangement. It, too, has that upbeat rhythm. It peaked at 43 inside five weeks. The two ballads on this album are "When Will My Eyes See" and "Your Love Is so Good," and both contrast each other. The former is pop-oriented and the latter is soulful. The remaining tracks are in the vein of the two released singles. All are seasoned with the thick, gritty sound of the early '70s." (Craig Lytle, AMG)

The Soul Searchers
This hardswinging band from Des Moines, Iowa, plays more than 100 dates a year in Des Moines and neighboring small towns and cities including Ames, Iowa City, and Omaha, and Minneapolis. Playing originals and lesserknown music by the likes of TBone Walker, Freddie King, and Otis Rush, The Soul Searchers create a smooth, groovebased blend of blues, jazz, rockabilly, and surf music. The band has won the Iowa Blues Challenge, has appeared on the mainstage at Davenport’s Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, has performed several Jazz in July concerts, and has been featured on Iowa Public Radio and Iowa Public Television. The band's core members include guitarist/singer Scott Eggleston, upright bassist Erich Gaukel, and drummer Mark Grimm. When the band performs as a quartet or quintet, they are joined by saxophonist Nathan Peoples (also with the The Blue Band) and/or pianist/organist Neil Stoffregen (also with The Nadas).
