Info for Omaggio a Heifetz
The musical works comprised in this recording are part of a particular repertoire, which has its origins in a specific period of western music. So as to distinguish this musical genre, in which a certain sentimentality is coupled with a definite technical virtuosity, one often refers to the accuracy of the German language, by adopting the name (sitting-room music). The social context is therefore all-important in the structure of these pieces which became a cultural phenomena all over Europe throughout the whole of the 19th century right up until the early 1920's.
