Info for Bach

Intended to instruct us and elevate our souls , the keyboard oeuvre of Bach allows us to travel to concertante Italy and invites us to dance or improvisation. From the moving 'Capriccio on the Departure of a Beloved Brother' to the 'Italian Concerto' by way of 'Partita no.1', the pianist Claire-Marie Le Guay offers a portrait of Bach that reveals the multiple facets of his genius: the virtuoso improviser, the pedagogue, the builder of cathedrals in sound.

„an enticing array of works, combining the ubiquitous with the more esoteric. From the outset, her playing is strong and assured; her fingerwork is seamless“ (Harriet Smith, Gramophone)

„a clever selection of Bach … Le Guay need not fear that her performance will be overlooked. Just listen to her energetic openings and tonal control in the slower sections … a perfectly satisfactory Bach recital that is captured in perfect sound.“ (Marius Dawn Pianist)

Claire-Marie Le Guay, piano

Claire-Marie Le Guay
Touring the world, winning many international competitions and the Victoires de la Musique, Claire-Marie Le Guay distinguishes herself from others pianists thanks to her recordings. Her last Bach record has indeed been hailed brilliantly by the press.

Claire-Marie Le Guay plays with the greatest conductors and orchestras. Amongst many others, she was invited on tour by Daniel Barenboim in the United States, by Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica and performs regularly under the direction of Louis Langrée. Let it be a concerto, a chamber music performance or a recital, Claire-Marie Le Guay is invited to many renowned festivals such as the International Piano Festival of La Roque d'Anthéron, the MDR Music Festival in Germany and the Lockenhaus Festival in Austria.

Starting her career at age 15 and having a great open-mind along with an inexhaustible musical curiosity, Claire-Marie Le Guay has developed a large repertoire, from Bach to Escaich.

As well as being a major pianist, Claire-Marie Le Guay has a great sense of sharing music and knowledge, as proven by her commented concerts or various commitments (she teaches at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris since 2002 and has been Eisenhower Fellow in 2015).

With her talent and humanity, her experience with major artists, Claire-Marie Le Guay is an essential artist in the classical music scene.
