Swing, Groove, Energie und jahrelange Erfahrung: Diese Attribute zeichnet das perfekt eingespielte Jerry Lu Trio aus. Es ist seit über zehn Jahren mit zwei weiteren, herausragenden Musikern aus der deutschen Jazz- Szene besetzt: Stefan Rey (*1989) am Kontrabass und Niklas Walter (*1990) am Schlagzeug. Exzellenz und Qualität sind dabei die Grundlage für den eigenen musikalischen Stil. Alle Musiker/-innen des Ensembles sind junge Profis, die ihr Jazzstudium in Essen und Köln bereits abgeschlossen haben. Der Sound des Jerry Lu Trios bewegt sich stilistisch zwischen swingendem und modernem Mainstream und trägt auch mit modernen Einflüssen das Feuer der Jazztradition weiter. Das Programm besteht aus bekannten Jazzstandards angereichert mit eigenen Kompositionen – eine für das Publikum sehr attraktive Mischung aus wippenden Füßen und strahlenden Gesichtern. Die virtuose Musik sowie die berührenden Balladen des Jerry Lu Trios ziehen die Zuhörer jedes Mal in ihren Bann. Das Trio wird gerne erweitert um einen oder mehrere prominente Gastsolisten, z.B. durch Musiker aus dem Umkreis der WDR Big Band (u.a. Paul Heller, Andy Haderer, Ruud Breuls, Andy Hunter, Johan Hörlen).
