Fast-rising pop-star Audrey Hobert releases her highly anticipated debut album, "Who’s the Clown?" on August 15, 2025.

“‘Wet Hair’ is the first song I wrote by myself. I had just broken up with the boyfriend from ‘Sue me.’ I was intrigued by the possibilities—aren’t break-ups classically great song inspiration? Yet there I sat, unelectrified by the whole thing. I just started writing out what was happening to me on my laptop at that moment, not putting it to music right away. Soon enough, I was singing ‘Wet Hair.’ The song in its essence is about not being worried about ‘it.’ Not needing to look your best to see your ex, not even needing dry hair. Knowing that you at your physical worst is still his greatest dream. Knowing you have the upper hand and leaning into it in a respectful way. Fans have eagerly anticipated a full-length project after the breakout success of Audrey’s debut single, “Sue me.” Delivered with a self-directed video seen over 700,000 times, the song has been streamed more than 25 million times worldwide and has seen explosive viral success in the weeks since release. Alongside instantly sold-out live debuts in New York, Los Angeles and London, Audrey also shared “Bowling alley,” the second taste of the forthcoming album.

Audrey has been hard at work on her own music for the past year with production partner Ricky Gourmet. Who’s the Clown? represents Audrey’s exploration of her own creative vision, as it is the first collection of songs she ever wrote for herself. The album’s cover and title came to her upon waking up one early morning, and the rest was created over long hours spent at her desk, in the Notes app of her phone, on a walk, or at a coffee shop table.

“I’ve sat with the girl who no one liked at lunch. I’ve had a crush on the guy with the rolly backpack because no one else did. I’ve looked out the window in the car and thought of the music video. I’ve read the book and seen the movie and heard the song. I’ve felt like the most special person in the dingiest corner of the background. Last summer, I sat at my desk in my room, and I wrote ‘til I was blue in the face. I’m excited for people to hear my work.” (Audrey Hobert)

A lifelong singer, musical theatre devotee and dancer, Audrey got her first taste of songwriting when childhood best friend and then-roommate Gracie Abrams pulled Audrey into the making of her album, The Secret of Us. Together, they wrote some of Gracie’s standouts like “I Love You, I’m Sorry” and “Risk”—for which Audrey directed the music videos—as well as current global hit “That’s So True.” Following that project, she signed a publishing deal which put on pause her plans to pursue TV writing. As she began writing, she realized the music was undeniably her own, and the project was born. On August 15, it will be yours, too.

Audrey Hobert
is an American singer-songwriter, director, and content creator who has quickly emerged as a notable new voice in pop music. Originally from the United States, she graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2021 and initially worked as a writer’s production assistant at Warner Brothers before transitioning into music and songwriting. Hobert is best known for her close creative partnership with pop artist Gracie Abrams, co-writing much of Abrams’s acclaimed 2024 album The Secret of Us, including standout tracks like “That’s So True,” “Risk,” “I Love You, I’m Sorry,” “Blowing Smoke,” and “I Knew It, I Know You.” She also directed several of the album’s music videos, further showcasing her multifaceted artistic talents.
