Info for Space Friction
Explosive Street Jazz: An archaic, rumbling orchestral sound with blaring brass fanfares, punky vocals, filigree electronic sounds and infectious grooves. The adventurous troupe has been on the road for twelve years. Constantly on the move. They have played over 300 concerts on four continents: on the stages of big jazz festivals as well as in backyard clubs or - back to the roots - on the street.
The freshness and carefreeness with which the Fischermanns Orchestra performs with great joy is rarely found today. Yet it is precisely the joy of playing that is the essence of all music and that is able to touch the heart. - Niklaus (Knox) Troxler, Jazz in Willisau
Seemingly effortlessly, the Fischermanns Orchestra succeeds in creating wonderful moments of communal happiness with complex music, with unpredictable performances and with wildly precise challenges to themselves and the audience. - Phillippe Bischof, Director Pro Helvetia, Laudatio for the Lucerne Jazz Prize 2014
It is a special kind of pleasure to hear and see the Fischermanns Orchestra. Lucky those who get to experience it. - Peter Schärli, musician

Fischermann's Orchestra
An archaic, rumbling orchestral sound with blaring brass fanfares, punky vocals, filigree electronic sounds and thrilling grooves. The adventurous troupe has been on the road for twelve years. Timpani, snare drum and wind instruments are reminiscent of a marching band, electronic instruments, vocals and effects of a rock band. They mix these opposites seemingly effortlessly into a fascinating bastard. The sonic pressure of the horn section, the hellish drive of the rhythm section and the crazy improvisations make them one of the most exciting live bands. The music is written by different band members. This brings a great variety. But the sound remains unmistakable. A collective with the familiarity and freedom of a well-rehearsed trio. Arrangements can be changed spontaneously at any time by hand signals. The former chaos and party sound has become more refined over the years and has lost none of its force and adventurousness.
