Info for Smetana: Orchestral Works
This album contains famous works by Czech composer Bedrich Smetana. The Moldau: The magnificent symphonic poem describes the origin and course of the river. The Overture to his popular opera 'The bartered Bride' and a recording of his String Quartet No.1 'From My Life.' It is a romantic chamber composition, an autobiographical work with nationalistic elements, describing the joy and fate of Smetana's life. In an intense and expressive reading, conductor Volker Hartung arranged this marvelous work for string orchestra and performed it with his Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra. As it is recorded with Sennheiser Kunstkopf-Stereophonie in the acoustics of St. Mary's in the Capitol in Cologne, you can enjoy it best via a good headset!
