MOSAIC is the eponymous debut release from a new jazz quartet performing a program of original compositions recorded ‘live’ at two concerts in Germany. The album is co-produced by veteran Toronto drummer Terry Clarke and German vibraharpist Stefan Bauer.

“Matthew Halpin is quickly gaining a reputation as a fearlessly inventive improviser“ schreibt Cormac Larkin in “The Irish Times”, und NRW Journalist Stefan Pieper charakterisiert ihn als “eloquenten, klanglich sensiblen, zwischen Ekstase und Eleganz vermittelnden Sax-spieler”. Matthew ist aus Irland und ist nach Jahren in Köln mittlerweile in Wien gelandet. Er ist nicht nur ein Ausnahme-Instrumentalist, sondern macht auch als aussergewöhnlicher Komponist und Konzeptionalist von sich reden!

Matthias Akeo Nowak
Köln, ist an verschiedenen Universitäten als Dozent tätig ist (Essen, Maastricht, Mannheim), wenn er nicht gerade mit eigenen Projekten unterwegs ist, wie z.B. mit seinem hochgepriesenen “Common Ground” Projekt (mit Achim Kaufmann, Sebastian Gille, Bill Egart).

Terry Clarke
Als “featured guest” aus Toronto, Ontario/Kanada ist Drummer Terry Clarke dabei, dessen Lebenslauf sich wie ein “who is who” vor allem der US Jazzszene liest. So hat er u.a. mit John Handy, der Toshiko Akiyoshi Big Band, Oscar Peterson, Nancy Wilson, Toots Thielemans, Red Mitchell und sogar mit “The Fifth Dimension” gearbeitet. Die Ernennung zum “Order of Canada” (Sir T. C.) untermauert seinen quasi Legenden-Status in Kanada.

Stefan Bauer
der in New York lebende Ruhrgebiets-Vibraphonist Stefan Bauer. Er wird nicht nur als Instrumentalist und Komponist geschätzt, sondern auch als Initiator musikalischer Verbindungen, auf die er selber mindestens so gespannt ist, wie es das Publikum sein darf – vor allem auf diese spezielle, vier Generationen umspannende Besetzung!
