Formed 2021 in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany, Samurai Pizza Cats are returning with their second album “Press Start”. The record follows on the band’s debut album “You’re Hellcome”, released in 2023. The quartet, which takes their name from a 1990s anime series, quickly established themselves in the metalcore scene through their blend of metalcore, and trancecore elements – with a portion of irony and funny, yet witful lyrics at the core of their sound. Signed to Century Media Records in early 2025, their new record stands out through its playful story of entering a game with its own characters, which truly come to life through the album's artwork. From dinosaurs, penguins to pizza-eating aliens, “Press Start” shines with a playful, comic-styled concept, creating a unique world to be explored. While the band doesn't shy away from characters that visually scream cute, their music is filled with heavy breakdowns that keep up the playful matter while each song creates its own chapter. Through the (anti-) hero anthem “Superzero” as well as the party heavy “Panderstruck”, the band invites to let loose, chaotic energy paired with witful, fun lyrics. Calmer, sing-along moments are created with “City of Gold”, which almost feels like the closing chapter before the band brings back “Pizza Homicide”, reimagined with DJ STVW (playfully placed after the outro “Thanks for Playing” – an encore for the album itself). “Press Start” would be no complete story without guest appearances: Featuring artists Ankor (“T-Rex(plosion)”), BABYBEARD (“Ramen-Man”), and STVW (“Pizza Homicide STVW Version”) add their extra flavor to the record, leveling up the charm through their own style. Samurai Pizza Cats
is a German metalcore band formed in 2021 in Castrop-Rauxel. The band consists of vocalist Sebastian Fischer, guitarist Daniel Haniß, bassist Stefan Reufer, and drummer Stefan Buchwald. Their name is a nod to the 1990s anime series of the same name. The band quickly gained a loyal fan base thanks to their energetic live performances and unique sound that blends metalcore, deathcore, and trancecore elements. Samurai Pizza Cats released their debut album, "You're Hellcome," in September 2023, and established themselves in the German metalcore scene. The band is signed to Century Media Records since February 2025.
