Info for The Robbie Songs Project (A Legacy Choral Tribute to Robbie Smith)

This live recording of 17 gorgeous Robbie Songs was captured at two concerts featuring 10 Nova Scotian Choirs in April 2023. You can hear the love of his music sung in every piece on this recording.

Featuring Cantabile Singers of Truro, Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus, Polaris of Choirs for Change, Nova Voce, The Aeolian Singers, Middleton Choral Society, and Dartmouth Choral Society with additional participation in the massed choir piece by Halifax Newcomer Choir, EnChor East and Coastal Voices Men’s Choir.

It was Robbie’s last wish that I continue to work to keep his music alive. We had just released our winter album and had remarked that many of the songs would make great choral arrangements, so that’s where I first started. The collection has now grown to include 30 of Robbie’s songs for every season and theme. It is so heart warming to have his music embraced by some of Canada’s best composers and to hear how beautifully they have translated into choral pieces.
