Info for I'm On Fire

Malvin Moskalez debut album ‘For The Beauty Kept Inside’ is a thing of wonder. Using the tried and tested template of an acoustic guitar and strong vocals, Moskalez demonstrates that simplicity goes a long way. Malvin goes straight for the heart, ties a bow around it and gives you strength to fight whatever life throws at you. He sings about the demons in your head, the little voices who can make the ground shake relentlessly beneath your feet. It’s a stunning debut that should appeal to fans of Bon Iver’s debut album, Jose Gonzalez, Ben Howard, Eddie Vedder, Damien Rice, …

Malvin Moskalez
‘Ghosts’ is a thing of wonder. Using the tried and tested template of an acoustic guitar and strong vocals, Moskalez demonstrates that simplicity goes a long way.

‘Ghosts’ goes straight for the heart, ties a bow around it and gives you strength to fight whatever life throws at you. It’s a song about the demons in one’s head, the little voices who can make the ground shake relentlessly beneath your feet.

Malvin Moskalez is the nom de plume of Nico Goethals (Ghent, 1973). Behind this stage name lies a touching, personal story: “My grandmother, Malvina Tweckhuizen, ran a pub in Ghent. It was a people’s pub, whose patrons would come for a chat, a glass of the good stuff and a bit of fun. This high-spirited environment was in stark contrast to the life of my maternal grandmother, Tatiana Moskalez, a Russian-Ukrainian who, following two world wars, ended up in Belgium with a hard life behind her. The duality of pleasure and pain is something I also live with.

The name Malvin Moskalez is a tribute to my roots, to two women without whom I would not be here today.”
