Info for Loose Future
Following Old Flowers' 2020 Grammy nomination, and due to Covid restrictions, Courtney, for the first time in her young nomadic life, was forced off the road and to remain at home. What resulted was the publishing of her first book of poetry, the first gallery showings of her paintings, and a period of self-discovery leading to the new album, Loose Future. Whereas Old Flowers was a beautiful and emotional break-up record, CMA's return with Loose Future is a bright, dynamic, falling-in-love record. Courtney's got a new story to tell, backed by a strong new musical direction, and a show-stopping collection of songs.
“These words slipped out of my mouth one evening while speaking playfully with a lover, and we both agreed they needed to be a song about the unknowns of bracing for any romantic endeavour. We always want to play it cool with love, but deep down our inner children are always afraid. In the studio, Sam Owens and I wanted to create the hopeful and free feeling of that sentiment.” (Courtney Marie Andrews)
Loose Future was recorded at Sam Owen's upstate New York Flying Cloud Studios, with musicians Josh Kaufman (Bonny Lighthorseman), Chris Bear (Grizzly Bear), and Sam Owens (Sam Evian)

Courtney Marie Andrews
is an American singer-songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. She released her first widely distributed and breakthrough album, Honest Life, in 2016 and has gathered pace and awards every year since. Known for an eclectic style that incorporates elements of folk, country, and indie pop, Andrews began penning her own lyrics in her early teens and began touring at the age of 16. She eventually made her way east to New York City, landing work as a backing singer and session musician.
In June 2018, Rolling Stone named her fourth album, ‘May Your Kindness Remain’, as one of the 25 Best Country and American Albums of 2018. Andrews released her seventh album Old Flowers in 2020 and it was met with immediate critical acclaim, as well as receiving a nomination for Best Americana Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. We’re so excited to hear this startlingly original voice bring the deer park to its knees.
