Info for Enescu, Prokofiev & Szymanowski: Works for Violin & Piano

Although their first joint appearance on a Polish stage took place 6 years ago, it is in 2020 that their debut album is launched by the DUX record label. Violinist Malgorzata Wasiucionek and pianist Sylwia Michalik present the album Enescu / Prokofiev / Szymanowski to the public. Currently, both artists define their cooperation as an absolute professional priority. Although each of them could endow at least a few outstanding musicians with their achievements, they observe the world through the prism of chamber music, being a tandem of charismatic artists. The duo is characterized by similar artistic views, excellent stage understanding and, above all, a fascination with the repertoire featured on the album.

"The duo Malgorzata Wasiucionek, violin, and Sylwia Michalik, piano, play three works that are around one hundred years old, but which were quite modern when they were composed. Enescu’s Third Sonata and the Myths by Szymanowski frame the Five Melodies written by Prokofiev.

From the first note, the two musicians show that they have a perfect command of their instruments. And their close interaction is also immediately convincing. The intensity and power with which the two performers play needs getting used to. Of course, dedication and devotion are to be welcomed and are always better than boringly played music. But music also lives from pauses or moments of rest, in other words, from relaxation phases. These are missing in this recording. Here, high voltage prevails from the first to the last note. So, beyond the undeniable qualities of the performances, there is still the possibility of development." (pizzicato.lu)
