Info for Haydn`s World - Vol.1
Johannes Klumpp and the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra have completed their acclaimed recording of all Haydn symphonies – but they are far from finished with Haydn. Now they continue with orchestral music by Haydn, as well as music from his time and circle. The first installment includes an opera overture by Haydn and one of his nocturnes, joined by music from Giovanni Paisiello, who was born eight years after Haydn and died seven years later, and from Adalbert Gyrowetz, who was born later (1763) and lived until 1850. All of it is light entertainment music in the best sense, and arguably the finest of its kind at the time.
Thus, a sonic map emerges, primarily of the 18th century, in which the familiar and the unfamiliar enter into a lively dialogue. The first installment of the series takes us from Haydn's sparkling overture to "L'Anima del filosofo" to Adalbert Gyrowetz's elegant Sinfonia concertante, Op. 34, and Giovanni Paisiello's operatic overture to "Pirro." With subtle wit, vibrant tonal colors, and palpable joy in playing, the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra once again demonstrates its knack for balancing scholarship and passion—and whets the appetite for the next stages of this classical world tour.
"A dazzling musical firework display perfectly complementing the autumnal spectacle of nature. As delicious and crisp as biting into a red apple." (Dr. Ingobert Waltenberger, onlinemerker.com)
