Info for Reboot II

Brooks & Dunn, the best-selling duo of all time, has shaped the genre for over three decades. With a Grammy-winning, course-of-history shifting catalog written mostly themselves, they could rest easy knowing without doubt they left a permanent mark on the American songbook.

After introducing a fresh concept with 2019's Reboot, they've now pulled out all the stops. Reboot II is here, and it's like nothing else. Not just a tribute — an experiment. The project is "No Rules," and it's not an exaggeration.

Featuring 18 Brooks & Dunn classics recreated from a blank slate, maximum creative freedom was given to a select group of today's most engaging artists — not just from country, but from outside the genre as well. Each was given a near-impossible task by Brooks & Dunn themselves: Take an iconic hit and reimagine the song to fit their own taste and style.

What came out is not a traditional tribute album — in fact it's the exact opposite, a clear refusal to put these songs under glass in the museum of country history. Instead, it shows just how alive Brooks & Dunn's influence is across today's musical scene … and how versatile their songwriting really was.

“The premise of the project was ‘No rules.’ For this one, we purposely loosened the screws and turned ‘em loose to do whatever they wanted,” Dunn explains, “We actually went way off the rails, in a good way.”

“This project is a lot more out of bounds,” Brooks adds. “Artists were going, ‘Would it be okay if we did this?’ It was like ‘Yeah! Let’s do it.’ We dealt with rock bands and blues bands and all kinds of genres, all over the place.”

The album features contributions from Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Marcus King Band, Megan Moroney, Warren Zeiders, Jelly Roll, Riley Green, and many more!

Brooks & Dunn

Brooks & Dunn
Once artists like Brooks & Dunn hit the Country Music Hall of Fame, folks don’t expect much in the way of new ideas. But, thirty-plus years into their career, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn long ago dialed in their generation-defining sound and style. The best-selling duo of all time, their yin-and-yang country-rock blend has earned them 20 Number Ones—plenty of material to fill stadium-rocking set lists. And with a Grammy-winning, course-of-history shifting catalog written mostly themselves, they could rest easy knowing without doubt they left a permanent mark on the American songbook. But Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have always been the restless type. Introducing a fresh concept of their REBOOT album in 2019, the duo gave today’s most engaging artists in and out of country. Music the near-impossible task of reimagining an iconic Brooks & Dunn song to fit their own tastes and style and the result—just how alive Brooks & Dunn’s influence is across today’s musical scene… and how versatile their songwriting really was. They continue to break records tallying the longest-running country music residency in Las Vegas and criss-cross North America year after year on their sold-out tours.

With 20 No. 1 hits stretching back to 1991, two GRAMMY awards, dozens of ACM and CMA honors and a discography counting more album sales than any duo in history – regardless of genre – Brooks & Dunn’s influence on today’s country has never been in question. Hits like “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “My Maria” and “Believe” have propelled the duo to more than 30 million albums sold, with the New York Times heralding “together they helped drive the power-country era of the early-to-mid 1990s and continued to benefit from the sea change in the genre they helped initiate right through their most recent albums.” Their original “Merle Haggard meets The Rolling Stones” vibe made them progressive stars in their own right. The duo’s recently released collaboration project REBOOT debuted at No. One on Billboard’s Top Country Albums. The impressive feat marks the first time the duo has topped the album charts since 2009 while simultaneously earning the duo their 10th Billboard 200 Top 10 album, the most of any country duo or group in the chart’s history. In 2019 the duo was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the “Modern Era Artist” category.
