Info for Chiaroscuro (Bach · Chopin)

Bella Schütz, representative of the ‘next generation of French pianists’, has chosen Bach and Chopin for her first recording. The young Bach with the Toccatas and the Chromatic Fantasy and the mature Chopin with the Nocturnes, the Fantasy and the Barcarolle - a unique combination in which the differences emphasise all the more the points of intersection in the two composers' imaginations. The pianist is fascinated by the extent to which these works, born of fantasy and improvisation, reveal the eternal conversation between light and darkness.
