Info for Flowermind

Intimate lyrics, grandiose arrangements, and a country-inspired jazz band – that's Hannah Köpf. The Cologne-based singer-songwriter is touring with her new album "Flowermind" – with a sound that feels like Nashville, but comes from Germany.

With a brilliantly clear, warm voice, she tells stories that both comfort and stir – sometimes floating lightly, sometimes intense and haunting, always full of expression and luminosity. The musical cosmos that Köpf has created together with drummer and producer Tim Dudek breathes the spirit of artists such as Jackson Browne, Steely Dan, and Judee Sill, moving effortlessly between folk, New Orleans soul, Americana, jazz, and Southern country. It sounds so natural, as if she had never heard anything other than these quintessentially American genres since she was a child.

With "Flowermind," she continues the trajectory of her four previous albums. After successful tours and enthusiastic reviews from experts and audiences, Köpf is now bringing new songs to the stage that combine Americana, country, and folk with a lyrical depth that always evokes comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon. "I want to evoke emotions and create images with my lyrics," says the trained jazz singer. "But also incorporate pressing issues of our time, such as the climate crisis, fascism, or social justice—subtly and without a raised finger."

"...cross-genre notes with folk, Americana, jazz, or bluegrass, as they thrive in Nashville. Multifaceted lead vocals permeate the songs in US English. Welcome to Cologne. And not Los Angeles—How does that work? Amazingly good." (AUDIO+stereoplay - Sound Tip)
