Info for The Shakespeare Album

This album is a live recording of a concert given by the Ilja Reijngoud Quartet with Fay Claassen, in which the texts of William Shakespeare take center stage. The best-known and best-loved sonnets of Shakespeare have been set to music by Ilja with much devotion and care. Inspired by two marvelous poems from the pen of Oscar Wilde, Ilja composed two additional songs to complete this album.

'Dutch trombonist Ilja Reijngoud has quickly established himself as one of Europe's (and perhaps the world's) leading jazz trombonists. Reijngoud plays very creative, modern, harmonically advanced, and groovin' solos. He really gets around the horn and displays incredible technique. His last album is definitely worth your attention. You should get this recording and any other recordings of Reijngoud that you can find. His playing is truly inspirational.' (ITA Journal 2013)
