Info for Everything Matters, Nothing Matters
So Soon takes his creativity to the next level while, by and large, staying true to his style. The album combines song-oriented craftsmanship with a fine feel for melancholic melodies and understated arrangements; distinctive guitar lines meet subtle keyboard textures, while the singer’s voice brings clear contours to the foreground. So Soon is characterized by a precise balance between intimacy and spacious production, which leaves room for lyrics about transience, closeness, and everyday observations. The compositions dispense with unnecessary ballast, instead relying on catchy motifs, well-placed choruses, and dynamic arcs that allow the songs to unfold organically. Production effects and a warm recorded sound embed the tracks in a cohesive whole that integrates both acoustic and electronic elements.
For listeners who value carefully constructed song structures and atmospheric density, “Everything Matters Nothing Matters” offers a coherent package: technically accomplished arrangements, focused melodic writing, and an artistic clarity that positions So Soon as a distinct voice within the contemporary indie spectrum.
Multi-instrumentalists, songwriters, and producers David Stöbener and Marco Braunschaffen make up So Soon—a project that generates immense scale and power despite an impressionistic approach to sound design and storytelling. Indie pop and folk merge with electronica and post-rock to form a moving whole, both on record and in electrifying full-band live shows. Friends since youth, they have spent years making music together and pouring themselves into their art. This dedication is evident in every composition, production choice, and concert performance: intricate songwriting, precise vocals, impressive sound, and superb musicianship combine to create something truly magical. Autobiographical snapshots, the experience of growing up in a world that offers much but demands just as much, hazy hope, and floating melancholy—these are songs of captivating depth featuring impressive vocals in weightless harmony. So Soon’s debut album, *Whether You Like It Or Not* (released in 2024 via Clouds Hill), has already made a massive impact, reaching countless ears and hearts. With thousands of concert-goers, over two million streams, initial festival appearances, radio and press coverage, and a rapidly growing social media fanbase, this is only the beginning.

So Soon
is a collaborative project founded by David Stöbener and Marco Braun. Both are songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, and producers. Their live performances and productions are supported by David’s brothers, Jonathan and Christoph. David toured with his brothers for several years under the name "My Friend The Immigrant" before deciding to shape a style of his own.
In the summer of 2019, David and Marco took some time apart to develop their individual sounds. During the 2020 lockdown, they dedicated ample time and space to working on new and exciting music. The "So Soon" project was officially launched at the end of 2020. Their EP reflects current uncertainties and explores the everyday yet omnipresent questions, challenges, and hopes of young people. The EP is expected to be released in late 2021.
