Info for Fireborn

"A flaming, uplifting, enchanted love letter to Finland and its thousand wonders."

Magic and wonder are an exclusive part of Finnish metal sagas. This music represents the sound of falling snow, howling wolves, shining stars and the flickering spirits of the Northern Lights like no other. Valkeat are the latest ambassadors of this Finnish cultural heritage. Formed in 2014 in Espoo, the hometown of the almighty Children Of Bodom, the six-piece band with two kantele players is about to set the world of pagan metal ablaze with their second wilderness call "Fireborn", a haunting, enchanted piece of Finnish metal history.

Valkeat continue the great tradition of epic Finnish metal. Those albums, that is, packed with sublime hymns and majestic songs, with jubilant choirs, primal melodies and pagan spirit. In this way, the band follows the great stories of all their predecessors - Nightwish, Amorphis, Korpiklaani, Turisas or Moonsorrow. Not by simply copying them, mind you. But by writing hymns to Finland, its forests, its legends and all those otherworldly creatures of twilight. Something great is coming. "Fireborn" is the album that will make Finnish folk metal great again. A new beginning, a new perspective on those magical, otherworldly melodies that have delighted us for decades. We can't really believe ourselves what this band has created here!

"Somehow I continue to be at a loss for words with this album. It is unusually multi-faceted and already enjoys cult status with me. Every song is an anthem and some parts are truly majestic. There is always something new on "Fireborn" and as a whole you really get to what VALKEAT want to convey. With their very extremely versatile album, they move from extremely heavier songs back to a softer terrain. Truly incredible what the band has created here. I won't go into the songs now. Everyone should discover "Fireborn" for themselves. For me, bands like FALKENBACH and SUMMONING have always been true musical gods. But now VALKEAT also joins them. Strange for me, but I can't help but give the highest of the rating points and that's a really long time ago. Respect!" (Andre Friebel, bleeding4metal.de)

Valkeat

Valkeat
From the beginning of their foundation VALKEAT has been something different.

Modernizing the sounds and playing styles of traditional Finnish instrument kantele, that according to tales was first played by Väinämöinen in the Finnish national epic Kalevala, the band has created their own unique soundscapes by melting together traditional Finnish kantele-music and modern melodic metal to shape a sound of their own.

After releasing first demo early 2015, VALKEAT soon took the notice of Finnish metal fans, cultural workers and kantele manufacturers alike. A recording contract was soon signed with Redhouse FMP and collaboration with the premier Finnish kantele manufacturer family Koistinen Kantele, who have forged the sounds of Finnish kantele for generations, started soon afterwards.

After finishing their debut album late 2016, VALKEAT is looking to take their own vision of new generation Finnish Folk Metal all across the world.

This album contains no booklet.
