Info for For Everything Under The Sun

There are not many emerging artists who can say that Evan Dando, (who Alex has never met, but purely on the strength of his songwriting) invited them to ‘come fishing with me’. But Alex Lipinski can. Evan went on to review his latest work as "emotionally expansive, honest, and worth it!".

The three singles already released from Lipinski's new album ‘For Everything Under The Sun’ have received both national & international radio airplay, with BBC Radio London's Gary Crowley making 'Groundhog' song of the week and declaring that Alex is "something rather special".

‘For Everything Under the Sun’ has ensured that Alex received a host of offers to perform on festival main stages across the UK in 2022, with his band ‘The Crown Electric’ and it is why he has been chosen as sole support for the Marc Almond UK tour in autumn. Which means a chance to perform in some iconic venues, including The London Palladium, and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Starting with The Palladium show, on October 16th.

With a new single scheduled for release at the end of September, Alex is looking forward to finishing the year as he started it – which is to say, tearing up the airwaves and bringing it to you ‘Live’.

"During the first lockdown I started listening back, with fresh ears, to a bunch of demos I had kicking around. I decided I liked them, and so finished them at home. A producer and good friend of mine, Michael Smith, (Elvis Costello, Wolf Alice) had been talking about making a record with me for a few years; but it never seemed to be the right time - he’s super busy: and I recorded my last album with Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) because that was just too good an opportunity to pass by. But we finally hooked up and booked the sessions in. The songs were complete, fully rehearsed and arranged before we went into the studio: that's the only way I can afford to record: I have to be ready, as do the musicians. It blows me away to think of the manner in which albums like Exile On Main Street came to be, basically workshopped onto tape, over a period of months. That said, during the recording process we did some additional sonic sculpting. Michael has great ears and suggested some little tweaks here, and there. It was a great working relationship. The majority of the songs were recorded at RYP Studios which is Rayner’s Lane in London under a Chicken Cottage fast food joint! The insane glamour of rock & roll, right?! The piano parts, however, were recorded at Woodworm Studios in Oxfordshire." (Alex Lipinski)

Alex Lipinski

Alex Lipinski
The first thing that hits you is the voice. Alex Lipinski’s caressing sympathy and full-throated resentment have grabbed unwary listeners from the West Country to Krakow and Berlin to New York, since he first left Somerset to become a crucial habitué of Soho’s legendary, lost, 12-Bar Club. He has followed in the footsteps of his hero Bob Dylan to write in the Chelsea Hotel, and sung Elvis songs in the home of an admiring Liam Gallagher, who is a firm champion.

His last album, the self-titled ‘Alex’ was produced by The Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe in Berlin. Hailed by Newcombe as “a young man worth my time and efforts, make no mistake, these songs have all the qualities of timeless music”.

No coincidence then that for ‘For Everything Under the Sun’, his soon to be released third album, Lipinski was sought out by Wolf Alice & Elvis Costello producer Michael Smith who had the same desire as Anton to work with a voice that Rock & Reel magazine describes as “channelling the best tones of Lennon and Orbison and makes them his own”, and songs which BBC Radio 6 legend Tom Robinson declares “sweep you up and carry you along”.

2022 will see Lipinski take to the road with his band The Crown Electric, with a number of UK festivals confirmed, and a special album launch show at The Water Rats in London on 5th May.
