Info for Fainu
The guitarist of Mapuche origin Fernando Raín Aqueveque has just released his debut album called Fainu, produced and edited by Sello Vértigo, thanks to funding from the Fondo para el Fomento de la Música Nacional.
Fainu (llovizna in Mapuzungun) is the name of Fernando Raín's debut album, a work that brings together a selection of five compositions and three arrangements of popular folk songs. Of these eight works, six are instrumentals in jazz trio format (electric or acoustic guitar, plus the participation of drummer Samuel Álvarez and double bass player Sebastián González) and two are songs performed by the outstanding national singer Nicole Bunout.
Fernando Raín is a guitarist from Coronel (VIII Region), who in his interpretation interweaves elements of Traditional and Modern Jazz, as well as sonorous glimpses coming from varied landscapes of the Southern Cone, under predominantly contrapuntal textures.
At the age of seventeen, he was one of the winners of the 5th National Electric Guitar Festival ‘Sólo para bravos’, and was awarded first place in the competition ‘Beca al Talento Escuela Moderna de Música y Danza’, which allowed him to pursue professional music studies, graduating with the highest distinction in the career of Musical Interpretation, mentioning Electric Guitar at that institution (2015). He also received a degree in Musical Arts from the Universidad Andrés Bello (2016).
He has performed in several venues, such as Usina del Arte (Buenos Aires), Teatro Nescafé de las Artes, Casa Museo Isla Negra (Fundación Pablo Neruda), Museo Violeta Parra, Museo MAC (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo), Museo Chile de Arte Precolombino, Matucana 100, Mavi, among others.
