Info for Onyx 10th Anniversary Edition

In January 2013, Pop Evil entered a recording studio in Chicago, with Grammy nominated Producer Johnny K to record their third studio album. The album has gone on to become an essential part of Pop Evil fandom and a cornerstone of the artists discography, featuring such formative and groundbreaking songs as Trenches, Torn To Pieces and Deal With The Devil. Trenches went on to become the band's inaugural #1 on Rock Radio charts in the US and carved the path for what has been a successful career run of hit singles.

"Released in 2011, War of Angels found hard-hitting, Western Michigan-based rockers Pop Evil delivering a solid slab of AOR rock UFC anthems that explored the notion of reinvention. Pop Evil continue to mine the rap/alt-rock/post-grunge sonic blast of the late '90s/early 2000s with dizzying results on their third album, Onyx, which was produced by Johnny K (Drowning Pool, Staind, Disturbed, Megadeth). The band offers up ten relentless new songs, including the blistering single "Trenches," that manage to introduce darker themes and clever stylistic shifts into the mix while maintaining the gritty yet accessible Midwestern backbone that won Pop Evil favor with the hard rock community in the first place." (Christopher Monger, AMG)

Leigh Kakaty, lead vocals
Nick Fuelling, lead and rhythm guitar

Pop Evil
There`s a reason Billboard named Pop Evil the #4 Mainstream Rock Artist of 2014, and it`s not just because of those three(!) consecutive #1 Rock Radio Singles from the last album (and a fourth that cracked the Top 10), the Top 10 Independent debut and Top 40 Billboard 200 debut of Onyx, or that album`s subsequent 180,000 in domestic sales. All of which being undoubtedly rare feats to accomplish as independent artists in any genre of music. ?Pop Evil released their fifth LP, a self-titled album, on February 16, 2018, via Entertainment One (eOne). Produced by Kato Khandwala, POP EVIL captures Kakaty and his bandmates at their most inspiring.? ?Every song on the album offers a different spin on the concept behind the band`s name and in an era when many rock bands create a few strong singles, and six or seven less memorable songs and call it an album. POP EVIL is all killer, no filler – the best 11 songs culled from 30 demos.?It`s a surging, contemporary sounding release that incorporates metal, alternative, hard rock and even some electronic music. In the wake of the band`s peppy, upbeat 2015 album UP, which debuted #1 on the Independent Artist Billboard Album Chart, it went on to produce their biggest single to date, "Footsteps." It`s a wake-up call, a musical rebirth that inspired the band to self-title the release, partially since they`d never done so.In March of this year POP EVIL`s single "Waking Lions" landed at #1 this on the Mediabase Active Rock airplay chart in the U.S. "Waking Lions" reached #1 after 20 weeks on the chart and is in the position of being one of the most spun songs at Rock Radio in 2018. "Waking Lions" is the band`s fifth #1 single with the previous four being "Footsteps," (2015) "Torn to Pieces," (2014) "Deal With the Devil," (2013) and "Trenches," (2013).
