Info for My Choice
Adam Wendt, one of the most important Polish jazz saxophonists and composers, has released a new album. And not just any new one! Together with him, the project was co-authored by some truly outstanding musicians: pianist Dominik Wania, who has already scored at ECM with a solo album, double bassist Mariusz Bogdanowicz and drummer Sebastian Frankiewicz. This new quartet of Adam's is reinforced in two tracks (out of nine) by Ignacy Wendt on flugelhorn and trumpet. Together they have managed to record probably the best album in Adam Wendt's discography to date, which includes ten original titles and 65 as a sideman! Seventeen of them he recorded as a member of the ensemble Walk Away, which together with the vocalist Urszula Dudziak opened the European concerts of Miles Davis in 1990! "This album is the culmination of the next phase of my artistic journey," the author let himself be heard. "It is a symbolic description of very personal experiences, thoughts and events that concern me. They are scenes from the past and present. I am happy that life has given me music and I can express myself through it even better than through words." With her tenor and soprano voice, she can tell some truly riveting stories! He plays the tenor saxophone in a similar way to the way Zbigniew Namyslowski of blessed memory rolled on the alto; both are based on Polish folklore. This is most clearly heard in Happy Five and Country Dance; the latter is furthermore saturated with a truly explosive dance called kujaviak.
