Info for Pocket Mozart
While today it is easy to listen to almost any piece at any time and in almost any place, before the invention of recordings it was quite complicated: you had to go to a concert or to the opera or you played yourself. In the emerging bourgeoisie, arrangements of the most popular works in instrumentations suitable for chamber music were popular and, of course, Mozart's famous operas were at the top of the popularity scale.
In many places, publishers set about transcribing Mozart's works for small and very small ensembles.
The two violinists Florian Deuter and Mónica Waisman have found a whole series of such contemporary arrangements of Mozart's operas and piano sonatas in "pocket format" for violin duo, which bring the well-known melodies into the new form with much wit and finesse.
In the process, the listener can grin and observe the reduction of the full sound and delve into delightful details of house music around 1800.

Mónica Waisman
studied violin at the prestigious Oberlin College and continued her studies in The Hague on the baroque violin. A career with some of Europe's most renowned early music ensembles and orchestras followed, taking her on tours throughout the world. She currently performs regularly in concerts in Europe, North and South America, including with the ensemble Musica Temprana, with whom she rediscovers treasures of 18th century music literature from Latin America. Furthermore, she is in constant demand as a chamber musician, concertmaster and soloist of various ensembles in Europe as well as South America.
Florian Deuter
is one of the leading baroque violinists of his generation. He began his career in 1987 with Reinhard Goebel's Musica Antiqua Köln, where he was concertmaster from 1994 to 2000. He was quickly invited to lead other renowned ensembles in the field of early music. Among others, he served as concertmaster with the Gabrieli Consort under the direction of Paul McCreesh, with Chapelle Royale and Collegium Vocale Gent under Philippe Herreweghe, and with Marc Minkowski's Musiciens du Louvre. In addition, he has held soloist and concertmaster positions with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra under Ton Koopman, the European Baroque Orchestra and Concerto Köln, among others.
