Info for WAVES (Music by Satie)
Bruce Liu announces “Waves: Music by Satie” a new digital album that will be released on 28 June 2024. The album will feature two contrasting versions of the composer’s six Gnossiennes. Satie’s six simple short works for solo piano, written between 1890 and 1897, were full of new and unexpected colours, with a sometimes oriental feel. They may have been influenced by the eastern music Satie heard at the 1889 Paris Exposition. Listen to the pre-release track of Satie’s Gnossienne No. 1, performed here on an upright piano.
