Info for Mozart: Serenade in C Major, K. 648 "A Very Little Night Music" (Version for 2 Violins, Cello & Harpsichord) (World Premiere Recording)
World Premiere Recording! Who would have thought that more than 200 years later we would have the opportunity to hear the world's first recorded versions of Mozart's works? In September 2024, while compiling a new edition of the Köchel catalogue, Mozart's official music archive, a previously unknown manuscript of Serenate ex C (Serenade in C major) was discovered. This dusty work is now known as Ganz kleine Nachtmusik (Serenade). After careful examination, the chamber work has been recognised as ‘most likely’ by Mozart and given the new Köchel number KV 648.
The string trio is in seven miniature movements for two violins and a cello, accompanied by harpsichord. It has been suggested that the work may have been composed in the mid- to late 1760s, when Mozart was still in his teens. Although the handwriting on the manuscript is not his, it is signed ‘Wo[l]fgang Mozart’. In addition, the sometimes light-hearted and sometimes boisterous character of the piece bears a striking stylistic resemblance to Mozart's contemporaries.
Haruna Shinoyama, violin
Neža Klinar, violin
Philipp Comploi, cello
Florian Birsak, harpsichord
