Info for Pax
For more than two decades, the Tingvall Trio has been a reliable guarantee for gripping piano trio jazz with catchy melodies and powerful rhythms. Their productions have been honored eight times with the Jazz Award in gold and once in platinum. Their last album “Birds” reached No.1 in the German jazz charts and sold-out concerts throughout Europe are testimony to the popularity of the three Hamburgers-by-choice. In preparation for the new longplayer “Pax”, the trio played a concert tour of more than 20 dates at the beginning of the year, at the end of which they went straight to their favorite studio, the ARTE SUONO of sound master Stefanio Amerio in Italy. The result is an album that sounds almost as energetic but also as fragile as a live concert. Never before has the trio been captured so straightforwardly in the studio, whether in touching ballads like “A Promise” or typical TT lottery numbers like “Cruisin”.
The album title “Pax” was chosen very carefully. Martin Tingvall explains: "In a world full of unrest and increasing social polarization, it was particularly important to me to make a statement for peace with our music. With our album “Birds”, we already tried to reflect musically on the disturbing developments of our time. Since then, many things in the world have continued to change for the worse. As a musician, I don't want to stand by and watch this in silence. PAX is intended to inspire reflection, invite calm - and be a clear sign for peace."

Hej, I’m responsible for all kinds of black and white keys. I personally like different kinds of music and I hope that you can not only hear that in my songs, but also in the fantastic playing of my friends and colleagues Jürgen and Omar. Normally I compose when I am in my home country Sweden. In the little town of Snarestad in the south I have found a place of silence for myself. Here I have peace to work on new compositions and to play.
Omar Rodriguez Calvo
Hola, I am the bassist of this trio. Between Martin’s nordic melodies and Jürgen’s rhythms, I keep the us together with deep tones from my bass and my pulsating cuban heartbeat. The trio is a very important part of my musical journey; it bonds the emotions from life, everything between quiet expression and explosive fire.
Our music comes from three very different personalities, but in the end we become one: Music!
Jürgen Spiegel
I am Jürgen, the drummer. Because of my experience in musical styles other than jazz (mostly rock, pop and hip-hop www.drums-for-your-song.com) I provide rhythm for the trio from a different side. I get lyrical input from Martin and Omar and I mix it with my way of playing, which i find extremely inspiring. The challenge of playing together is very enriching: no concert is the same as the last one and I believe that the compositions provide me with so much freedom and space that, together, we always end up on new shores.
