Philipp Wisser
is a jazz guitarist, composer, and bandleader based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and part of a new generation of innovative voices in contemporary European jazz. His music combines lyrical melodies, modern grooves, and open improvisation, shaped by a distinctive compositional approach and a versatile guitar sound.
Wisser studied jazz guitar and composition, including on a scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, as well as at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. During this time, he developed a strong focus on original composition while further refining his voice as an improviser and bandleader.
His music is rooted in modern jazz while incorporating influences from rock, indie, and other contemporary styles. With his latest release 5th Dimension and numerous other projects as a guitarist and composer, Wisser has established himself as a distinctive voice in today’s jazz landscape.
Alongside his work as a performing musician, Wisser is also active as a music educator and is involved in a variety of projects within the German jazz scene.
