Roberto Gatto Quartet

Biography Roberto Gatto Quartet

Roberto Gatto Quartet
With this quartet, the internationally best-known drummer from Italy brings his own open concept of jazz into play: the joy of musical communication, a skilful combination of talents from different generations and a keen ear for the great Afro-American tradition and innovation. His stylistically broad-based collaborations have ranged from Phil Woods to Franco Ambrosetti, from Enrico Rava to Franco D'Andrea. Over time, the musician has increasingly developed into a sensitive leader who is able to put together groups that organically enrich his projects. On the one hand, there is the brilliance of pianist Santimone and trumpeter Presti, who have long been at the drummer's side in brilliant explorations, and on the other, the suppleness of bassist Evangelista ideally complements the drummer's pulsating rhythmic understanding.
